A colleague has sold his little place in Spain because of the recent severe problems with immigrant crime. People literally walk into your house and if challenged say they are looking for their cat! The Spanish police did not want to know when he was burgled, because he was not Spanish. And of course increased problems with drugs and prostitution follow on. When it comes to population movement, Switzerland has proved that strict controls do prevent some problems.

I have no desire to live in Spain. I am living in Switzerland at the moment, and it's lovely here....even when it snows. In England there is something lovely about curling up in front of a fire in the winter. I prefer to have 4 completely different seasons, and would hate it to be hot all the time. Surely you would get bored of the constant sun and heat in Spain?

Yup.. that sounds like parts of England (you've not been to Liverpool or Leeds I'm guessing). England seems to be going to hell with the US, so Spain seems like a better place to be.. The weather seals the deal.

You are unlucky you have been to the worst part. The Brits go and live in the nicer more affluent areas.

Its like any country there are good and bad parts and I have always enjoyed visiting there. People like to live there because of the warmer climate generally.

Maybe it doesn't rain as much. Plus maybe they are not driving such a fancy car. You have to dress down, don't be a stand-out target.
