We are ALL American's first! Not Irish-Americans, Italian-Americans, Chinese-Americans, African-Americans, Liberal-American, or Conservative-Americans. Isn't it time to put America first and just simply be, "Americans"?
Shouldn't we have some unity among ourselves and stop beating each other up for the capitalistic profit of the media?
Our enemies read this stuff in the news to empower themselves!
Do you think we could just have a MILLION AMERICAN MARCH to promote American values and not belittle each other for a few words in a headline?

That's a nice dream and I totally agree with you, but we live in a world of classes. There are just so many ways to sift and sort society that we will never just be "American". The only time I can even remember a glimmer of National Unity was when 9/11 happened. What a tragic day for us all, but we pulled together in our own little ways. Seeing "Old Glory" waving everywhere really had an impact on me being a former soldier and all, but why did we need the deaths of all those innocents to draw us together? Had we pulled together beforehand, might that have occured? Maybe, but then again, maybe not. Oh well, back to reality now.

OK. I grew tired of waiting for someone to recognize Danish-Americans anyway. We get no press at all.

I'm with you on that one. I get particularly annoyed when it's used to refer to someone who has not arrived here from their _______ heritage, and most likely has never set foot in said country.
As a Scottish, Polish, German, and Yankee hybrid, I am nothing more than AMERICAN. (Not that I am a flag waver, trust me)
