The number of estimated genes ina human genome is between 20,000 and 30,000. So it would be somewhere between A and B. We used to think that there were more but after the human genome project was complete in 2003, the estimation stayed at around 20-30,000.

You answer depends on how you define the "gene". According to Ensembl (as to 9:00am, 03-04-2007), human has 21,662 known genes plus 1,064 recently found novel genes. So the answer would be B. However, if we count in the hypothetical genes, the total number would be around 91,000 (answer A). These hypothetical genes are predicted by bioinformatic programs rather than based on the hard evidences of biological data.
