Big problem, can't think of the answer! To get away from my lousy parents & horrible brothers when I was a kid of 13 I took up singing & acting - it got me away from them, and got me doing meeting exciting people. I went through college and did some professional work. All of this got me away from home and meant I didn't have to live there. But now I have left home for good (because of a huge row) and I have no contact anymore with my family (since a few years) But I have lost my motivation to perform. The family are gone and I am relaxed. Bad news is, I don't seem to need the showbiz anymore. But this is a waste, as I am good at it and I spent a lot of time & cash. I've not come across this before, has anyone else? I just can't bring myself to do the auditions/shows/social stuff anymore, now that I have got away from the toxic family. Help!

as you already are aware....singing (in fact practice in any of the arts) is primarily an emotive response to our environment....your best bet is to try to find something in life that causes an emotive response....another thing you can do is try to re-find the professionalism that you acquired earlier.......get a life....get on with the job!! someone once said to me....if it don't come naturally.....FAKE IT!

Hey, you could try The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. It's a soul-searching book for stuck artists. Or try the Artist's Way website, the members have sundry experience with being stuck for all kinds of reasons.

YOU should be your biggest motivation. Tell yourself that you're doing all this for yourself, and that it's worth it. You could also put your emotions into songs, and start a demo cd. Don't get depressed! Go out a lot, like for walks and things just to get some fresh air. Good luck :)

I think you could be one of those people who talent is wasted on because they have no drive.
