Since Materazzi feels he is justified in insulting Zidane, I don't see why Zidane should make peace

Materazzi has done this to three players. So he is a loudmouthed bully but on the flip side of the coin he is simply a great defender in the respect he puts the attackers right off there game.
I don't agree with racism (and if racism was used, thats him going too far) but having been mates with a few defenders, I know they say all sorts of things and do all sorts of things when the ref is not looking. There job is stop Attackers and that is really all he is doing.
Remember Italy won that game because Zidane was not there in extra time.

I read in Wikipedia Materazzi once invited Zidane to his home in an attempt to bury the hatchet.

zidane is a GOD, compared to materazzi.
if anything, materazzi should appologize to zidane for whatever he had said, first. even then, zidane shouldn't make peace with him.

No; they'll probably never meet again. I don't think the situation was serious enough for 'peace' making anyway. Zidane just tapped him with his head and the other guy flopped.
