I need the answer to write an article on "Children and Leisure activities" in Journal of School Social Work a monthly from Chennai, India. jssw.india@gmail.com is their id

I think there is a happy medium here. If you leave it solely to the child, they may chose to watch tv or go on the computer constantly, forgoing exercise and other necessary activities. If you leave it solely to the parent, the child may be in several activities they don't like and rebel early because they have so little of a say in their life.

In a happy medium, the child and parent agree on a few activities the child should be doing each week (Ie, go outside after school everyday for an hour, do homework for an hour each night, and go to soccer practice twice a week plus games.) and let the child have time each night, and a full day once a week to relax in their own way.

well you can put yourself in a child shoes and think what would you like to do. For me i ask my kids what they like to do and from there work together with them to make things more fun. Believe me they can come out with great ideas...

leave it to the kids....adults supervise...all kids will have different interests...unless it is a danger to the child or other children
