After surfing every employment website known to man and reading so many classified ads that you are concerned the ink is absorbing into your body… You find it - the job ad that seems perfect for you. Now how do you prepare for the interview? Step 1 Find out All You Can About Your Prospective Employer. Talk with your friends and colleagues to see if they are familiar with the company. Do they know anyone who has interviewed with the company? Find out as much as possible about the job duties and requirements of the position. Do an internet search and see if the employer has a website. Read their company history and mission statement. Do they specialize in a particular field? Who is the owner or company president? This will help you ask intelligent questions and show knowledge about their organization. Step 2 Do a Pre-Interview Self Assessment. Are you able to convey to your prospective employer positive information about yourself? Do you convey confidence and professionalism? Make a list of your skills and personality traits that would be of benefit to the employer. Make a list of possible interview questions and practice answering them out loud with family, friends or the career counselor. Be able to give specific examples to anticipated interview questions and not just general statements. Why they should hire you? Tell me a little about yourself? Tell me about your training at PCI? What do you enjoy doing the most/least? Why do you want to work here? What were your duties at your last job? Ask for critiques of your delivery style and communication skills. Step 3 The Actual Interview. DRESS FOR THE INTERVIEW NOT THE JOB Dress appropriately in professional business attire. This is defiantly not the time to be making any trendy fashion statements. Carry an extra copy of your resume, academic records and personal references. Arrive 15 minutes early. Don’t arrive way too early (makes you look desperate for a job) and never ever arrive late. Lateness is an employment killer and sign that you are unreliable. Plan enough slack time so you won’t be rushed before the big interview. Use this time to relax and observe how the staff and others in the office interact. Always present yourself in a confident manor - walk briskly, with purpose, and stand up straight. Complete the job application completely and don't leave any blank spaces. Never lie on an application! When you meet the interviewer look him or her in the eye and give a firm handshake. Be yourself. Be confident but not arrogant. Try to relax and make the interviewer feel relaxed. Remain positive and enthusiastic. Speak clearly. Don’t talk too much or too little. Listen carefully to the interviewers questions. Ask questions as though you already have the job - What would a typical day be like? When will the job start? Who will be my supervisor? etc. Do not make your first question “what’s the salary.” Remember to focus upon your accomplishments and achievements. If you are really interested in the job, let the interviewer know about it. Step 4 The Post Interview The interview process doesn’t end when you walk out the door! Be sure to write a thank you letter. Thank the interviewer for their time and the opportunity to interview with their company. If you really want the job, say so in the letter. If you have not heard anything within a week to 10 days, you may want to call. Assure them that you are not trying to be pushy, but that you are just interested in working for their company. Even If you are not hired, send a thank you letter to the company and ask them to keep you in mind for any other similar job openings in the future. You may want to ask the interviewer if there was any specific reason as to why you weren’t hired. Ensure them that you only want to know this information to assist you in your future job searches.

1) First, brush up your fundas. Most of the interviewers like to check your fundas. If you fail to answer even fundamental questions, you're out.
2) Dont choke your mind with unnecessary worries - the interviewer is a human being like you, too. He wants a human being for work, not an Einstein.
3) Be confident.
4) Be open. Dont try to cover-up your mistakes, that's the worst you can do in an interview - you get readily thrown out.
5) Dress properly. Dont wear lousy clothes.
6) Look into the company's website and try to get an understanding of their products and services and the corporate culture there.

Don't write in text speak for starters.

You need to research the company you are being interviewed by to gain a basic background knowledge of their principals, aims, and objectives. There is always a question about what you could offer and you could include this information into your answer.

Also, it is important to think of some intelligent questions to ask THEM. One about future opportunities within the company or something about how they would provide training are usually good ones to start with.

Dress smart (suit, polished shoes) and don't forget to smile.

Good luck!

Always wear a suit to interview. I will have to say just be your self and truthful to your self. every job interview that I went to never really ask about what the company does and so on. their main interest is that you'll be able to do the job and good fit for their company (team environment). they'll ask you about yourself and the specific experiences. you have to give them good examples for the questions that they asked. they want to see if your experience match with the job that you are interviewing. good luck

hi dear,,

First know which company is coming to recruit you. Get to know the maximum details of the company and job-profile that you would be posted to. Next, go to its website get maximum details, vision, mission statements, CEO his brief history, company's recent past, its clients, etc. Once done this jot down a writing for your better understanding of the company do revise.

Spend some time sitting alone and analyze your strengths and weaknesses and do a swot analysis. Know yourself, get a paper and jot down all your minor and major achievements. May be its just learning cycle at the age of 10. Getting first prize in elocution in 3rd standard... yes all these count a lot in projecting yourself to you. Get a list of all this and recent accomplishments paper presentations, debates, research... if done with this write down where you failed in the past, try to get some basic reasons why you failed to achieve a better rank in competitive exam or your recent interview. Do all this alone and get to know yourself better.

Sit with your friends, discuss yourself apart from the work done above. Do ask for their feedback on you and your behavior. Get more positive points which you may not be knowing as your strength - your smile, your confident walk, your posture, your work, your hand writing... wait a minute also know your weakness - may be you need to more friendly, your dressing sense... done with this Relax.

Once you have done some ground work on this. Sit down and prepare a resume of your own. Please don't copy the contents or modify your friend resume. You can take the format. Present yourself in your resume not your friend. Be optimistic but don't over project yourself. Take time to befriend with your resume, before finalizing on it have a through check and do include all the necessary fields, mobile, email, name, address etc...

Now, its time for preparation. Know the pattern. Get an appropriate book for aptitude work on it. Also get papers from net, download, print and work. Do your best. Next, watch news channels, forget movies and weekends for a while, prepare well. Go through newspapers, and if possible contact any person from the company to know the culture and career growth in five years. This will help you clear some initial rounds.

Every round is a different one checking for different qualities in you. Interview preparation is more practical than theoretical. Sit down with your friends, ask them to interview you in true sense. Ask one of your lecturer or counselor to do it. Get feedback, don't get frustrated even if you are unable to do well. Infact, you are going to do better, you have avoided the same situation in the interview. Be practical. Have an open mind to face the reality. Don't bother even if something goes wrong. Work hard and then work smart. You will find a difference in the way you see the world.

Even if you are unable to make it up. Don't lose heart, don't give up. Your real failure would be to give up. Failures are the stepping stones of success. Don't panic even if your failed in 10 interviews, worry if you are not performing better. It is not the end of it. Be brave and world is yours. For example, all famous actors, players, do their ground work well and then they perform before us. If required pick any biography of a great person you adore. Get inspired. Do well.

Wishing you all success.
