I know this sounds absolutely ridiculous, but I was recently told a woman started breastfeeding her two month old baby who was previously bottle fed.......

Yes you can but for that your milk supply must be very good. The milk supply will go down if you don't start feeding the baby early on but many times it can be kept up by pumping. Some times the milk supply doesn't go down too much even if pumping and bottle feedign the breastmilk is not done It can also be build up again by the use of some medicenes and regular stimulation of the baby. If your baby latches on perfectly your milk supply can increase drastically. Two months is not a lot of time and so the mother must have build up her supply. Although the baby may get nipple confusion since it was given a bottle from the beginning but that can go after a few days also. It need a lot of dedication though.

I've even heard of ladies breastfeeding adopted babies (of course by the use of medicenes)

Absolutely, it sounds crazy but it IS true. Even adoptive mothers who have never even been pregnant have managed to breastfeed their adoptive babies -- WITHOUT the use of medication. I put a few links at the bottom for you if you are interested in learning more about "relactation" (breastfeeding AFTER your milk has dried up) or "induced lactation" (breastfeeding without ever having been pregnant to begin with).

Yes, it is difficult and takes perseverence, but many woman have done it!

People who adopt a baby can breast feed. All it takes is patience, perseverance and your hormones.
