wires, it comes up with a note saying its not connected, then chose a wireless network. it says click on here to find a wirless network in range, but comes up with none found, but i have one upstaires. It says make sure the wireless switch on your compter is on. What switch??
I have gone through the process to set up the network as stated on wondows XP, i have done this on both the laptop, and the desk top, the desk top does not have a network card, and sky have told meit does not need one, unless i want that to be netwoked, but of course the router is also a wireless router, which they tell me can do both.
any help here please

the desktop can be either wired or wireless, so the laptop, but it would be a pain if you dragging a long cable around the house if you keep moving around with the laptop:) , so it's best to use wireless. Now, i don't know if your laptop has built-in wireless or not. Most recent laptops have those, so check yours. There would be a button with a picture of wireless located either on the top of the keyboard or around the edge of the laptop, if you have one, press it, and if the light comes on, you have a built-in one, if it doens't light up, you can buy a wireless card, which is as a built-in, and it would be located underneath the laptop or you can buy a wireless card that sticking out from the side or an USB wireless adaptor.

Wireless switch, thats the one on the computer... they are in different places for different systems.. sometimes on the left side u will see a switch, and sometimes in FN + F8.. to turn on wireless.. also.. if ur router is 802.11g and u have an 802.11b card... then u are out of luck... hope u have both b+g tho... good luck!

, slight discrepancies make a difference move the transmitter slightly it is trial and error, also distance can make a difference
