I have at least two dozen antique machines, all in working order. Nearly all of them have come from flea markets and yard sales. Auctions where the contents of a house are being sold, are another good source. And keep your eye on the newspaper ads for "old sewing machine", since most people have no idea of exactly what the machine is.

I have mostly hand cranked machines, but I've always kept a couple of treadles on hand, for repairing tarps etc. And I sew every day on a computerized machine! ROFL

You could try freecycle. You go to www.freecycle.org and join and put in your local zip code and post that you want a vintage sewing machine. If anyone happens to have one they would like to get rid of they will email you. It is a long shot but they give away a lot of good stuff on there. The idea for freecycle is that people give away good stuff to keep from just filling up our landfills. It is really an awesome idea.

I have a vintage PFAFF, German technology, I think it's the best. But shipping and handling would be crazy because it's in a vintage cabinet too.

You reported that any help could be favorite, yet your added info do no longer sound very appreciative. in case you had capitalized the type call, that could have helped. I on no account heard of that kind. Sorry, would be unable to help you to.
