Ok I installed a new graphics card ATI Radeon 9250 and after some initial flashing on and off on my monitor everything went fine so i installed all the drivers for the new graphics card and it was all working fine. Then I started playing a game and about 6 hours after installing the card my computer turned off and will not turn back on. BUT I left the side off my computer, could this have caused any problems? I've tried removing the graphics card, plugging the monitor in the old port and nothing. No lights come on at all when the power cord is plugged in and when i press the on button nothing at all is happening (and yes i've got it turned on at the tower and the plug). Can anyone help me? Thanks.

It could be any number of things.
First stop: your powersupply.
Second, your computer gets overheated so it has shut itself down.
Third, you have jarred something loose inside, especially the powersupply side.
Fourth, your mobo is fried? Unlikely but you can check it by plugging in the old video card.
Fifth, your monitor. If it is plugged into the same source as the power to the computer, sometimes the PC just won't run. Make sure they are on two different sources.
Sixth, your monitor has gone kaput. Try and change the monitor and see if that helps. If the monitor malfunctions, the pc won't boot up. I somehow feel this is where the problem is, because the symptoms you describe seem to correlate to the video card and the monitor.

It all depends on the circumstances. It may be it has overheated and will turn on if left long enough. It maybe that the power supply has died. If you turn it on and it is not even running the fan in the power supply, my guess would be the power supply was too weak for the additional power needed for the card and I would buy a higher performance power supply. If the fan in running but no hard drive sounds, Check all the cables are secure.
Check the graphics card hasnt come unseated.
The side being off should make no difference.
How dusty is it in there? That can help it to over heat.
Did you disable onboard graphics when you installed the graphics card? If so ,you would need to re enable them to continue without the card. You'll find it in the bios. the F2 key for my set up.

There are some great answers here to check. First as someone said check if you loosened any wires from your motherboard or loosened any mem cards etc.. Check power supply. Try hitting the degauss button on your monitor settings.See if there is a reset power switch on the back of your computer and reset it.Check your cables and make sure your monitor plug is on correctly.Try all the suggestions listed on your replies.

Insert the old graphics card and see if that works. The new card may be beyond the specifications of your motherboard.
Other than that it could be a PSU failure (but rare unless it's new).
Remove the computer completely from all power sources then try plugging it back in again and powering up.

Probably your Monitor has gone faulty.
" flashing on and Off " or
Do you hear any sound from the tower ?
PSU fan is running ?
Probably Power unit failure.
Without something showing on the screen
cannot pinpoint the fault.
BTW press Del to access bios settings,
as soon as you start the computer.

Unplug the system... make sure the new video card is PULLED OUT... leave it unplugged and the video card out the entire time... wait 10 seconds... let the MB drain power... plug the power cord back in and see if it will turn back on.

All these problems mean nothing. U should be more considerate and polite to the computer. Might as well give him a BJ...
