Both Republicans and Democrats care about the poor children in America. The difference lies in what should be done about it. The Democrats want the Federal Government to provide for them through various social programs administered various departments and run by bureaucrats.

Republicans prefer that any Federal Funding should go to support private institutions that are already in the business of providing these services.

The Democrats, set up these programs that cause dependence on the program. In fact, as in the case of welfare, it was nearly impossible to ever get off of the program because it provided more benefits than a person could get working for a living such as free prescription medications, free eyeglasses, free school lunches, free medical treatment, free hospital care etc.

Republicans believe that all those able to work should work. Provide the benefits to them but make them work for the benefits. This will teach self reliance and encourage them to get off of public assistance.

Our brothers and sisters in the Democratic Party have a nasty habit. They set up these programs with great intentions but never look back to see if it is having the effect that they intended. For instance: Back in the 60's President Johnson launched his War on Poverty. Trillions of dollars later, there has been no improvement. If he had simply given every poor person a million dollars back then it would have been less expensive.

I was born to a poor family. My dad worked in a factory and we had four children. We lived in a rented two bedroom apartment, always had an old worn out car. We seldom had new clothes and I often had patches in my trousers. Some weeks we had only franks and beans for dinner. We received no government assistance,

We were a close knit and happy family, though. Our mom took very good care of us and my dad spent as much time with us as he could.

None of my sisters ended up pregnant before marriage, I did not end up in jail. None of us used drugs. Fast forward. All of us are married, have children (I have grandchildren, too). We are all homeowners and live middle class lifestyles.

Children should be protected from homelessness and hunger. But that protection should be in the form of a safety net. That safety net should never be used as a hammock.

We all care. Anyone saying that only a Democrat cares is fooling themselves and is pretty self centered.

I am all for pulling all our service members back into the confines of our home, put them on our borders and then focusing on our problems.

I wish we could do it, but I know it will never happen. Until we get a president, house and congress in that cares, we will be seeing more and more of our own go without while billions upon billions worth of aid go to other countries.

We have not had a President that focused on this issue in forever. The last three have definately not focused on it. (yes, thats right, the Democrats wonderful Bill Clinton has done little to nothing)

I believe both care but in very different ways:

Democrats: Set up more programs which cost more in administrative costs and people receiving benefits that really do not qualify than what goes to help the poor. It keeps people feeling like victims and bitter and feeling like there is no hope for them but a government handout. This perpetuates itself for generations. Nothing is being done to lift them out of this condition and their children continue to have more children for the government to support.

Republicans care but want to lift these people out of poverty by helping them help themselves, showing them that they can build their confidence, self esteem, education and position in life by joining in mainstream America.

People do not appreciate what is given to them with no strings attached.

Lack of education, single mothers, free sex, lack of moral standards are the foundation for most poverty. People can and will go through hard times and may need a hand up but to perpetuate poverty by teaching to look to the government to solve their problems is not really caring about the person.

Both care for the poor and their childern, but go about it in different ways. If stricter guidelines for eligibility were enacted for welfare and other social programs, I would be in favor of them. As of the moment it is a joke.

Truth be told...NONE OF THEM. They are politicians. Only themselves matter. They are there to earn a living and if those poor children can't get them into the spot light then they could care less.

I think both personally care about poor children. Its just that the Democrats will show that concern by giving poor children food and aid and the Republican will give them a lecture about pulling themselves up by the boot straps.

Which party is known for cutting social programs?
Which party is against welfare?
That should help narrow your choices.

I once heard it put this way, they are both thieves, at least democrats give back half of what they steal in social programs.
