in two weeks i will be going to tokyo. this is my first time going and i need help on where to go or what to do to exchange money. from what i heard the best way is to exchange a little amount at the narita airport and head straight to an ATM if you a citi bank account. But i have bank of america, and from what i know bank of america charges about 4% if i were to buy it from them. Is there another solution? Is there a bofa branch in japan, i heard that there was but i couldnt find any information on it. thank you for your help people, i'd really appreciate it.

Banks give the best exchange rates. Use your atm card.

Call around and see what you can get. The airport in Narita was quite a bit more expensive than my credit card (I have a really good bank that the credit card is through though). One of my friends swears by getting money orders in advance and then cashing money orders when you get over there, as you need them (it's one way you can compare banks). If you are going to order cash or money orders from a local bank, you really want to get started on that shortly.

The airport rates are on the link below. If you compare them to Wells Fargo (https://www.foreignexchangeservices.com/cfx/cfx/todaysrates) or (worse yet) Bank of America, you will find that they are much better.
