As I've grown older I've noticed a distinct trend in our culture toward rudeness. People no longer excuse themselves when they bump into you, I see people of all ages on cell phone talking in public places and they will even interupt conversations to do so, all without appology. Are we really becoming so callus? Do you think that eventually we'll just give up face to face discussions and go complete electronic?

I've seen the same. Even my closest friends will interrupt our quality time together when random people call them, though I would never do that to them. I have seen hope though: when I was in school, not too long ago, I went to a place where everyone apologized for accidental bumping and people held doors open for each other(what a novel idea!). They would even search out the courtyard for loners and invite them to have lunch with them and their friends. I'm sure at least some of this politeness will transfer to the larger society. But technology is dominating the lives of many. It worries me how much computers are relied upon. Should we really put our lives in the hands of these cold, unfeeling, machines?

Society is ´filling up´ with jerks and lazy bums. The classic gentleman type like Tom Bosley (the father from Happy Days) has gone out the window. Everybody is developing a Manhattan businessperson attitude. People feel that they are the best so everybody else is just in the way. Basically a gentleman or a lady nowadays is a rare commodity that I miss. Help that could´ve helped. Love and Respect.

The trend, as you've seen, sadly, is to be rude (bumping into people, cell phones in restaurants, etc.). With the pervasiveness of the Internet and cell phones, I don't see either ever going away. But, that said, I also don't see the face-to-face discussions ever disappearing either. We just need to figure out how the two "groups" can happily co-exist side by side.

Hey, I guess it's just changing times. People live for their own agendas and that's it. I think the manners today are kind of disgusting especially among teenagers and against their elders. What's worse than what u sayin is the way ppl treat the elderly!!!! It makes me sad. There are so many idiots out there that just don't know what they are doing. I just had two dumb girls in my lecture class carrying on a complete conversation right while my teacher was giving his lecture! I couldn't believe it. The rest of the room was quiet and they were just talking as if no one else was around. I wasn't to slap their dumb a$$es. Simply, put people just don't give a dayum, though you will find your occasionals that do if you just find the right crowd but good luck wit that.

I believe it's society.
Let's see - They want to take God out of the schools, The news teaches children all about there rights to stand up to there parents. Society has taught when things don't go your way Sue.
Most everything that is taught today is more about rights instead of morals.

There are still a few warm and engaging humans out there.

I haven't found any of them, but I sense they still exist.
