Lets make no mistake, lets not let personal opinion on his lifestyle and family influence you on whether he is capable of playi in the England line-up again.

Beckham currently has 94 caps with the England squad - he is 32 years old, and is the only English player to have scored in 3 world cups.

He plays at the centre of one of the biggest clubs in the world, and has been at the top of his game all his life. He has twice been awarded SILVER FIFA player of the year.

Only 2 weeks ago, he got Man of the matchplaying against Bayern Munich, and was instrumental to all 3 goals.

Steve Mclaren, dropped Beckham from the squad and said he wanted to go in a new direction. I think he needs to own up to his mistake and bring Beckham back. Just Like Coppeli the Real Madrid manager.

David Beckham is still a great player - his commercial strength often over shadows his skill on the field. The sooner people realise this the better.

I get the feeling McLaren dropped Beckham to show who's boss. A very stupid move, in my opinion. He may be boss but the team is rubbish. Beckham has leadership qualities and a work ethic this team needs badly to say nothing of his international experience. McLaren is a disaster.

YAWN how many times is this question going to be asked the facts are

he can not play 90 mins for England as he demonstrated in the cup

he is not playing enough first team football

he is going to play football in a minor league

he is more interested in his commercial work now

his performances lately have been good for Madrid but can he keep it up

everyone was calling for him to be dropped after the world cup fiasco and his Madrid form has pretty much always been consistent and good

I am not totally anti Beckham if he were to be called up he should be a bench player only it will be a shame if he can not get to 100 caps after being so near he is still a great passer and set piece player but i have serious reservations as to his fitness

Beckham is very slow and he does not know how to dribble, which every winger needs to know. Lennon or SWP will do better in his place. I also think McLaren should play the midfield a different way. Maybe put J. Cole on the left Lampard in the middle Lennon on the right, and Gerrard behind the 2 strikers. Maybe give Gerrard a free-role, that would be deadly. Lampard may be able to play like he does at Chelsea when hes alone in the middle because Makalele dosen't attack, he only defends and sends the ball to Lampard from the back.

He's an English icon and a great player, we need him back to boost overall moral, he has a great sense of national pride and it was a mistake for him to accept the huge yankee dollars. He should return to England full stop and play in a team here. I think our team are always burdoned with too many expectations, we always do well anyway, lets stop the blame game and give em a break, it's great entertainment, yeah get him back now, i also have the view that uk players should play uk football, no foreign internationals he he like in the early days (ok shoot me)

I'm not a fan of David Beckham nor soccer but on my opinion, they should recall David Beckham for the England squad. England needs someone like David Beckham...he's still a very good soccer player, there's no doubt about that. Mc Laren should realise that its not Beckham's lose if he will not play for his country but its England's lose...he should reconsider before its too late. ;>

NO! If you have actually watched Beckham over the last couple of years playing for England then you would understand why McClaren dropped him! I believe that you have been reading too many sun newsspapers!

Now that England have continued their poor form people are starting to look for excuses! such as bring back beckham and that will make everything better. Welll it won't!!!!!! Over the last couple of years including the world cup surely you would have been one of us shouting at the tv screen get beckham off! and get on lennon who actually offers us something down that right hand side as he injects a bit of pace and life into the game! The reason why We are playing so poorly is because of a number of reasons such as poor management, lack of passion, and the fact that most of these guys have just become pre maddonas!

I hope that you take on board my point.

If you do not read too many sun newspapers then I struggle to see your point. Have you watched Him play in the England colors. I am a regular follower of the England team! I go to all the home games and therefore i am entitled to my opinion! There are a lot of armchair watchers who can not see were Im coming from.

I am English and am very passionate about my country but watching players with no passion for the shirt infuriates me!!! And yes there are also a lot of other players who do not deserve to be there!

p.s in reply to iwasnotan..., what leadership qualities does beckham pocess that gerrard doesn't, gerrard has captained liverpoolt o the Champions league final and won it! what has beckham done!

I have said before, I cannot see why not, he includes lumpard every-time. And I cannot see David Beckham doing any worse than lumpy did last game. No my opinion did not change because of the sun neither.

you must look at england tho, they hav great YOUNGER skill. Steven Gerrard has outstanding direct kicks just like beckham, but he is only 26 yrs old. gerrard is very talented and i think could esily take over beckham's spot.

One man doesn't make a team, and there are better dead ball kickers out there...
The man wouldn't tackle to save his life. And he's old now, you should be looking at the up and coming players, not ones that distract from the real players who play for the love of the game and country, and not someone who is using it to promote his own celebrity.
.Strip away the hype and he was playing with brilliant players in Man U, Keane, Scholes and Giggs, all made him look better than he was. The fact Giggs is Welsh and Keane Irish, and Scholes rejected the limelight, he was the one who took up the glory.
He's a lot to prove in Real, and obviously see's going to America as a step up the career, I mean celebrity ladder..
