That is because cd players came out and people didn´t have to spend 5 minutes that they could be listening to music to rewind a song. And that wasn´t good enough. Mp3´s are easier than a clunky walkman. And bluetooth. But soon that won´t be enough. I am thinking Mp4´s and super radio receivers in a phone. Oh, they already have that. Or atleast practically. So basically, because walkmans are soooooo 15 minutes ago.

If you're talking about the cassette walkmans, they were huge and heavy, they ate AA batteries like they were bon-bons, and when they weren't snacking on your batteries, they decided your fresh MC Hammer tape was next on the menu. Not to mention that they only stored a maximum of (I think) 120 minutes of medium quality music. Also, you couldn't skip from track to track, you had to fast forward and then wait. You also had to guess right, because the tape certainly wasn't going to tell you when you hit the track you wanted. Hope that helps.
