hi i have a marine tank and i started it up a month ago now i was advised to put a few in at a time so i started with 5 and in your case 6 will be OK i then had to wait a week and i added 2 more after that and then 2 a week i can add until the tank is full of the fish i want.i would take a sample of your tank water to the aquatic shop and ask them to test it first just to make sure everything is okay with the tank water if so good luck and enjoy your fish

I wouldn't advise putting 6 fish in at the start buy a pair of platies first as they are a bit hardier than the mollies! A week or two later check your water quality and if levels are ok add another pair. If you build up slowly you can add up to 12 fish of your chosen species and until all reach adult hood you'll have a different range of sizes! But remember that they will breed and unless the fry are removed quickly they'll become a meal for the other fish in the tank! If any were to survive you would then be over-stocked! A 60 litre Orb should never contain more than 60cms (adult sized) fish!
Good luck and enjoy your fish!

All these fish need to school in groups of 4+. 60 litres is about 16 US gallons. The rule is 1" of fish for 1 gallon of water for average body fish. A petite fish maybe 1.25" per gallon. A chubby body fish like a goldfish, about .5" per gallon.
Your tank can only hold about 16" of fish.
Mollies and Swordtails mature around 2.5" or a little more. Six fish would be easily 15". You've just maxed out your tank.
You need them to all be the same breed to relive stress, otherwise they will die. You've prolific breeders, but your tank has no room for the offspring. I'd consider something else.
You also need to cycle the tank. It couldn't possibly handle the full load of fish at this point. You could get two and start to cycle with the fish. With something like Hagen Cycle or API StressZyme, you can cycle a tank in 4 weeks or so. A lot of people will say cycling a tank with fish is cruel.
Google the phrase fishless cycling, make that decision for yourself.
Whatever you do, DO NOT dump 6 fish into that tank at once!

From manager on, you've been getting good advice. The tank is only about 15 gallon, and the shape causes there to be very little surface area - I personally would only plan on about four of these fish total! Plus, it would be better to start with just one (or two small ones). If you haven't cycled the tank yet, I'd do that first to avoid ammonia building up.
The fish you have planned would be okay together - and the colors sound like a very good (and attractive) mix. If you get all males, you won't have to worry about reproduction.

Nope...you may want to look ahead to the nitrogen cycle to run this is route, otherwise this is extra likely your fish will die; fairly the shrimp considering invertebrates are extra comfortable to ammonia/nitrates/nitrites/etc. Get a water try kit (no longer the strips...they're faulty) and save attempting out time-honored till the ammonia is 0. If the ammonia is 0, wait a pair of days to verify. you may help velocity it up via putting fish nutrition in pantyhose contained in the tank, or you'll get some genuine flora. proceed to allow the clear out run. in case you do not enable the nitrogen cycle run, this is extra likely your fish will die. people bypass homestead with a tank, fish, and nutrition and their fish die interior the subsequent few days, yet they do no longer understand why. undesirable water chemistry is the reason. The nitrogen cycle is all about installation a colony of solid micro organism. Any uneaten nutrition or perhaps as your fish/shrimp poop, it creates ammonia. solid micro organism breaks down the ammonia, yet in case you do not have a colony of solid micro organism because your tank is new, then the ammonia rises. Ammonia is quite poisonous to fish, so that you opt for it to continually be at 0. wish I helped :)

the fish are fine the quantaies are not. you should just purchase no more than 2 fish like the mollies and then wait a week or two. You have to be patient or your fish will die because you tank will not ready for all those fish at once

when we got our 4ft tank, we let it mature then got to impatient to build the fish up slowly!! we got 8 fish the first time and they were fine, a few weeks later we got 8 more, all are alive and well and the angel fish had about 300 babies! we had to get another tank for the parents and fry cos they kept gettin eaten, there 5th batch of eggs were the survivors and we hae 17 of the babies left which are now 10 months old and gone back in the big tank, all fish are fine, just CLEAN the filter regular, twice a month at LEAST!

I would probably start off w/ 1 mollie (either type) and 1 platie. Then gradually add, over the next few weeks, the desired number and type of your fish. I know it's hard to wait, but just be patient, it'll be worth it. Hope this helps!!

My local Pets at home wouldn`t allow someone to buy six fish at one time and i agree
The bacteria in your tank is only just starting it might be to much for the filter to cope with
Why not buy 2 fish at a time buying another 2 in a week or so
I know its hard to wait but if they die think of the poor fish and of the money you will have wasted

That is good to start, however you should not add all 6 fish at one time. This could spike your ammonia levels. Fish should be added one or two at a time and about a week apart. Get your mollies, wait a few days then your two silvers and then the reds.
Allow your tank to adjust to the new bio load inbetween adding new fish.
Your fish will be much healthier and lower the risk of over stressed fish.
Good luck

Why have some of these answers got such low rating they can't even be shown when what their saying isn't even offensive! Look as long as all your tests say its okay. You can start to put your fish in but! I recomend maybe 3 hardy fish to start with and gradually build it up. Depending on your style, danios are a good start for a new aquarium and their quite pretty. Knoledge is power so do plenty of reading, ask plenty of people and with alot of TLC your aquarium with be bursting with life in no tme. Good luck :)
