Hi Everyone. I am having a Laparoscopy done this week. I have had laparoscopies before but I wanted to know if anyone has had a reg. lap as well as one where they had ovarian cysts removed. Will I be in more pain and more sore than normal after ovarian cysts are removed or will it be the same discomfort as before?

As for the discomfort, that will depend on the amount of work done during your procedure. I've found each lap (and I've had 4 of them, 3 to check the status of my endometriosis) to be a bit different when it comes to the recovery process. Problem is that I don't know yet if I've recovered from the one I had in 2006 because I have another pain issue going on that is keeping me on pain meds and I'm in the middle of trying to figure out what is going on. With my lap in 2003 it took me 6 months to recover fully from it and my dr drained a functional cyst while we were in there.

My suggestion is with this one like the other to take it easy (meaning rest a lot) and even if you think you are up to doing a lot later on don't because I promise your recovery will be set back for a bit. Also, eat lightly for the first few weeks because your stomach will be sensitive. Also, when getting up off the couch or out of bed, use your arms to help you get up as the abdominal muscles will be pretty week.

I wish you well with your lap and if you need more info pls feel free to e-mail or IM me directly.
