It most probably would, the amount of speed and force that would build up behind it on the drop down would mean whatever it hits at ground level would probably get damaged one way or another!

No ,absolutely ridiculous theory. Since you could throw a coin horizontally faster than the maximum speed it would attain if dropped from as high as you could get, you would be able to demolish a house simply by throwing a few dozen coins at it. Do you honestly reckon you could do that? Just one more thing. Has it not occurred to you that if what you suggest is true ,then the area around the base of the Eiffel tower,(and all other tall structures around the world for that matter),would be a shattered mass of rubble and concrete dust, since thousands of people who have heard of this stupid idea wouldn't think twice about putting it to the test ?

You didn't think before you typed out this question did you!!
No of course not how can it??
Its too light in weight. Even if you dropped it from a plane it wouldn't crack the pavement.
If you dropped an anvil off the Eiffel Tower that would crack the pavement!!

Many years ago I was on a school trip to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. One of my classmates threw a coin off the Tower and it hit a fellow pupil on the head. You've never seen so much blood! The Eiffel Tower is a lot taller than Pisa so I'd suggest a coin could do quite a lot of damage. Don't try it!

No. The terminal velocity of an object like a penny is too low to even penetrate the skin, let alone concrete. (Terminal Velocity is the maximum speed that an object under free-fall can reach, before wind resistance prevents further acceleration. In other words, it's the point where the wind resistance is exactly equal to the gravitational pull.)
They did indeed perform this experiment on the TV show Mythbusters. They build a gun which shoots pennies at about the terminal velocity, and shot them at one of the hosts. It hurt a bit, but he was neither injured nor bruised.

No it will not, however if you missed the pavement, and someone on the ground was looking up at the tower, and was wearing spectacles, and the coin hit them, chances are that it would damage them and the glass could go in the persons eyes. Don`t drop coins from anywhere!

in a unmarried episode of "MythBusters" they tried it, yet concluded that it will be no longer achieveable except there become no wind (and round something as intense because the eiffel tower, there is very virtually continually going to be wind). With wind, the coin spins round sideways; giving it extra floor section, and for this reason extra drag (which retains it from reaching killing velocity).

that depends on what u call a crack .It might chip it.Check out mythbusters on discovery chal.they proved that a pennie droped of the empire state building would not kill a person or do significant harm as the pennie,s veloisty {mass times gravity} Could not do much harm

Definately not true but could harm or blind someone looking up at tower. Stupid as well because you would never see where the penny landed. Cya

Doubtful, but if you hit someone with it, that would probably hurt quite a bit. I remember being in Hong Kong and the government ran tv adverts advising people to be careful to not drop things off their window ledges in the high-rise apartments.
