You would see a bit of what Melbourne has to offer in 10 days.

Things that I would recommend -

***Werribee Zoo (most of it is a 1 hour trip on a bus through a "safari") The end of June is usually pretty wet so at least you are safe in a bus.
***A footy game at the MCG or Telestra Dome, depends of you already follow AFL - if not try and get to a Collingwood or Essendon match, they usually have the biggest crowds so you will get more atmosphere.
***Look around Crown and have dinner there one night - then have stage shows there so you could always do that, or there is bowling, cinemas, bars ect, so you could just hang out and have a good time
***Day trip to Great Ocean Road, I would suggest take two days, so drive out stay down there for a night and drive back. Because it's June you won't be able to swim or anything but it's a beautiful drive
***Aquirium in Melbourne, it will only take a few hours but i enjoy going in and having a look around
***Day trip to the Dandenongs, it's a lovely drive out, if you leave Melbourne about 9.30am have a drive and look around, find somewhere to have lunch - make sure you go to Sky High, and you would be back in the city by dinnertime. You can always stay in the Dandenongs the night, but it's only a hours drive from Melbourne so the choice is yours
***Daytrip to Ballarat to the Gold Mines. I would almost suggest staying in Ballarat the night, so you can travel out to Ballarat in the morning, go to Sovingren Hill for the day, have dinner and stay in Ballarat the night, then the next day head out to Bendigo for a day trip before heading back into Melbourne.
** You could spend a few days just exploring Melbourne - jumping on trams and seeing where you end up. If you are into shopping then Smith Street Collingwood and Bridge Road Richmond are good for bargin shopping.
** Dinner in St Kilda, I love either Circa or gee, can't remember the name of the other restaurant, but it's down near St Kilda Marina, beautiful views of the bay.
** If you like wines then it may be worth booking yourself onto a winery tour in the Yarra Valley - you get to see the beautiful Yarra Valley and taste and purchase wines, plus usually there is dinner as well.

Hope that these suggestions help.

There are heaps of places in Melbourne and Victoria that you can see in 10 days.

In Melb CBD, you can wander around and see a lot of places in one day, especially if you catch the City Circle Tram. Melbourne Aquarium, Federation Square, Docklands, MCG, Melbourne Museum, Melbourne Zoo, old Melb Gaol, Fitzroy gardens, State library, Botanic gardens. and more

outside of melbourne if you have a car, Great ocean road is a great day trip or even 2 days, also the Yarra valley is another day trip or 2. single days can me Mt Macedon, Hanging Rock, Phillip Island.

In June, you may get some snow and can go to the snow fields.

enjoy your time here.

G'day...

OK... it's gonna be hard to beat Tarz' answers :) Way to go Maam!

Dun get me wrong. I am a Melbournian, been living in Melbourne for more than 16 years and very proud of the city. However, if my relatives from Asia come to Melbourne for 10 days, I'd be hard-pressed to fully impress them for the whole holiday (Asian has different way of doing holiday).

I would probably suggest you to spend at least a week in Melbourne, and probably visit another state around Victoria. This maybe Sydney, Adelaide or Tasmania. My personal favorite is Tasmania, since I like scenery trip rather than rides or entertainment park like Gold Coast. You can do Tasmania tour for abt 4-6 days. Weblink provided below. As you are coming during winter, things are cheaper in Tasmania (low seasons).

Just thought that I might provide a different opinion :)

Have a terrific trip and welcome to Melbourne :)

Probably your best way to go, would be to check out tourism/Victoria, as you haven't stated your age, or where you come from.
Melbourne is not like Europe, where you can see historical buildings or places of interest. It's a young country.
June is cold, so I guess the coastline bus tours are out for a start.
Melbourne is presently experiencing a drought, so the country side is not very appealing at present.
Possibly stick to the city of Melbourne, and go to stage plays, Docklands, or the Casino.
The Dandenongs with their devonshire tea rooms are OK, and other attractions in that area. You will need a car, or someone who knows the area. as stated, June is cold, and the start of winter.

HI
Welcome to Melbourne. Your plan for 10 days is very good one. In this time you can spend your time watching Melbourne and around in a normal pace. You can watch a lot of places.

My suggestion is plan well in advance about the trip and bring all the required stuff for your visit. Since you are here in June, it is winter. Have your clothes accordingly.

For better details just watch this site. It is upcoming but should be finished in all respect by April.

Good luck and have fun

A very good answer from Tarz (tho' might want to work on that spelling a bit!)...
I'll add that the Mornington Peninsula has many good wineries as well, and beautiful coastline.
Take a trip down to Portsea & Sorrento, or head to Westernport Bay... some great stuff to see (including the Penguins at Phillip Island - but rug up!)!

Well, middle of winter will be fun, for you. Take plenty of warm clothes. And the days will be shorter, so you wont have daylight to help you. We do have lights, but who wants to be sightseeing after 5pm, with a nice cold rain springling down on you.
10 days is OK, but if you want to see the surrounding towns, many of which are 2-3 hours away, it is not.

check out www.thatsmelbourne.com.au for ideas.

if you are just doing Melbourne, then 10 days is probably too much, but if you are going to do the yarra valley, the great ocean road, healsville sanctuary and so on, then 10 days will be great.

I suggest that you go to the official tourism site for Melbourne and research what they recommend for attractions, evenrs, places to go etc.

If you need to accommodate yourselves I've also provided a directory where you can sort prices and locations. Just click on the "sort" link.

Hope that helps
