Personally we all (if we are honest) carry a little guilt around with us. We may have even opened up to someone close and admitted it - off loading it so to speak. The hard part is indeed opening up to someone (neutral) if needs be. Then proceed to do something about it making amends so to speak - if possible. Although some act of good towards the person one wronged in the first place is a start. I would suggest phoning the samaratians or similar bodies to explain the guilt trip' as they are neutral and proceed from there.

Depends on what is the cause of your guilt.
If you feel guilty about your actions (or lack of actions) or thoughts about others, then if you seek out those who have been hurt or maligned and offer a sincere apology; your guilt may be relieved.

If you feel guilty about cheating someone then pay restitution.
If you feel guilty about lying, 'fess up.
If you feel guilty about doing something underhanded, recognize that you have been dishonest with yourself.

You need to examine what is making you feel guilty and why. Only after you pick apart the details and examine your feelings can you figure out a way to resolve the guilt.

Use your brain and think about your feelings--what is the trigger for this guilt you are feeling?

Be honest but be kind to yourself. Don't beat yourself up for feeling badly - we all have emotions, we all feel remorse, and yet we each have a chance to make amends and begin fresh every morning. Good luck to you.

Accept what you have done, try to make amends and forgive yourself. Look at what it was that made you do what you done in the first place and learn from it. Guilt can eat you up and the best way to deal is honesty - that is honesty to yourself!

If it's something you can rectify, retract, make good, lessen the suffering caused, do so immediately. If it's beyond repair, try to remember as a lessen never to do it again instead of punishment feeling the guilt continuously.

By owning up to what you have done and facing the consequences, it does wonders to lighten the soul. Or if that is too unthinkable try doing good deeds for other people and adopt the attitude that none of us are perfect and we all make mistakes sometimes.

Learning to forgive yourself will possibly be the most difficult part of the step. I know that is the case with me. Just try to be a little better each day. I suppose thats asking enough of ourselves. And never stop trying.

first of all acknowledge your guilt and take responsibility for your actions. Confess your guilt to whoever you wronged, apologize and make restitution, then listen to your conscience before acting, then you will have nothing to feel guilty about.
After the first steps, forgive yourself.

Theres a good book on the subject " When I Say No I Feel Guilty" Might do you good to read it...Are you feeling guilty about doing something wrong? Or are you feeling guilty about saying no to someone who asked you for a favor etc.?

The best thing to do is speak to someone about it. Due to a bad experience that I feel terribly guilty about (as it wasn't my choice - but I could have avoided being bullied into it) I am currently seeing a counsellor and this is helping me immensly. Hope you feel better soon.

Not knowing what you are guilty of makes it difficult to answer but knowing that you are suffering from it shows that you have a conscience. Always remember not to be too hard on yourself, you are human after all, not perfect. Good Luck.
