Which is greater? I'm just trying to find out which sample jar gives me more uses. Thanks!

1/4 = 0.25
1/8 = 0.125
1/4 > 1/8

Make the denominator equal
1/4 = 2/8

Very obvious, when compare 1/8 with 2/8, 2/8 is greater thus 1/4 is greater than 1/8.

On a number line the fractions would be shown as:-

1/8--1/4--3/8--1/2--5/8--3/4--7/8--1

Therefore 1/4 is greater than 1/8

if you can fill a jar by 40 1/4 teaspoons you will be able to fill the same jar with 80 1/8 teaspoons so 1/4 is two times greater

1/4 means fourth part of a teaspoon while 1/8 means eighth part of the same teaspoon, so 1/4 is more than 1/8. Infact 1/4 is double of 1/8.

When using fractions you are counting the number of pieces that it takes to make 1 whole piece or thing. If it takes 8 pieces to make it the those 8 pieces would be smaller in size than if it took only 4 pieces to make the saame thing so YES 1/4th is greater than 1/8th.
