I am having my second child this summer and looking for some guidance please. When my daughter was born her father refused to let me breastfeed her, so when I got pregnant with my new husband I was worried as to what he thought. He is totally encouraging me to breastfeed this baby. I am planning on returning to work as soon as I can after the baby is born. I want to be able to bottle feed the baby breast milk so my husband and 7 year old daughter will be able to help with the feedings.
To be honest I am totally clueless how the pumping thing works so could you please explain it to me? How to store milk? How long it is good for? What type of pump to get??

Thank you so much ahead of time for your help....

An electric pump; milk is good for 72 hours, label each bottle with a date. Take an insulated cooler to work. Take breaks when you are full, pump out, fill bottles, put in cooler, back to your desk.

a million) How am i able to tell if she's getting sufficient breast milk? You affirming she is crying once you're only nursing her. i could say it truly is an illustration she isn't getting sufficient. If she is fussy when you've nursed her then she is likely nonetheless hungry. If she eats until eventually she falls asleep or is content fabric then she is likely getting sufficient. She also must be gaining weight on an familiar foundation and must have quite some moist diapers. 2) How am i able to boost my milk furnish (and how lengthy will it take to boost)? once you supplement your furnish decreases. Which i'm guessing why your furnish has decreased. what your doing is large besides the undeniable fact that it truly works in line with furnish/call for. What i could do is attempt to breastfeed as a lot as accessible- if she continues to be hungry then proceed with the formula to verify she is getting sufficient. once you've a pump start up utilizing it. The more suitable she nurses or you pump the more suitable your milk furnish will boost. it may take position rather instantly too. 3) could I assume her to achieve weight at a slower price even as being breast fed quite of bottle fed? i does no longer say so... My son is completely breastfed and received a pound a week after from beginning each and each of how until eventually he became 2 months previous

The major rule with breast milk is the 3-rule.. 3 hours left out at room temp, 3 days in the fridge, 3 months in the freezer. If you live in the US then there is a WIC program somewhere in your area, if not then the hopsital that you are going to deliver at has breast feeding classes and can also help you with a pump free of charge or to rent for the time that you need it.
I hope this helps if you need more help mail me

Sounds like you should get an automatic one if you're going to be heading back to work. There will be instructions in the box on how to store the milk. Try to buy a new one...used is just gross. If you get it before you deliver, you can always have a lacatation consultant show you how to use it correctly.

http://www.babycenter.com/ is a great resource. I never pumped again after my son snubbed all thawed milk, seems kinda pointless when it all goes in the trash. Not meaning to discourage you. My son is just spoiled LOL
