Question is vague! You can purchase the cheapest or the best and they all work well. Depends how much you want to spend. Never had a problem with networking with any of the equipment available. Very easy to do, just follow instructions that come with it.

..I was a die hard xp pro user untill i Bought a vista premium machine..i still have the xp pro comp that i use sometimes and still like it but vista is the way forward,now people will say stay away from vista and some will say its good,i say its like comparing win 98 to xp..thats the difference from xp to vista..again I'm just one telling my story..Vista is so easy to use if you read and learn the same way it was when xp came out ,and even then people were giving out about xp ?? now they wont give Vista a chance .. i have vista for a week now and i love it.. But try for yourself if you dont like it i will buy it from you..Steve... By the way Linux ain't just for experts i use it too and I'm far from an expert.. all operating systems have their good points and bad..WINDOWS 2000 SERVER..OLD BUT OFFICIANT

i visit completely understand you want to flow remote from that Microsoft junk. check out Solaris 10. Its widely used and has an particularly large consumer base. various reliable documentation and is an particularly mature OS. it may do all that you've requested and could actual do a lot a lot more suitable. reliable luck
