ok, I downloaded a video thingy onto my computer through bit torrent and now it is finished, I opened the file, it's listed as a video, but when I play i through windows media center or any of my programs, it only plays sound, no video. please help!

ok, are you all talking about a converter?
I got gspot, that told me I need a xvid or whatever, I downloaded that, then it gave me a converter . . . it is avi now, what do I convert it to?

In my idea, you must install the Codec pack on this site: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Codec.htm or http://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm ...

You dont have the proper codecs for the format you are trying to play.
Download gspot:http://www.headbands.com/gspot/download.html

Use it to render the video file. Then view the video codec information and locate the missing codecs. Go here to download the missing codecs: http://www.free-codecs.com/

You probably don't have the right codecs to play it.

www.cccp.com go there and download the codec package, you should be able to see it after that.

on certain ones it's almost like a copyright (codec) is what they call it and you need a dvd decoder, which can be downloaded, you might try cnet or download.com
