Browser problems are a real pain and you can root around for solutions for ages to no avail so you aren't alone. With IE, always clear out the cache and cookies first - use Windows own tools or a third party freeware like CCleaner.

Then in IE7, go to Tools>Internet Options; under the General tab, in the section marked "browsing history" click on "settings"; in the new window click on "view objects". Anything flagged with a yellow exclamation mark can be safely deleted - if you need any plugin IE will prompt you to reinstall it.

Check your add-ons via tools>manage add-ons and try disabling unwanted items. For example I use Spyware Doctor but it slows browsing to a crawl. It has three BHOs which I disabled. You may find something here that your antispyware didn't detect. It might help to run a scan with Hijackthis (free) and submit the log for analysis to a forum.

Antiphishing tools check the pages you are visiting and this can slow things down; if you are using McAfee Site Advisor make sure you aren't using IE7's own antiphishing tool. Try turning it off via tools>phishing filter and see if it helps. For more on this issue please read this

There are also other antiphishing options available other than McAfee which you might prefer

There's not much point in rolling back to IE6 on security grounds - use Firefix with IE extensions to allow you to switch rendering engines if you need to or try an IE-based alternative like Avant browser or Maxthon.

Had the same problem with my dads PC although mines fine. Difference to mine is he's using new beta version of Yahoo mail which apparently clashes with ie7 and crashes it.

Put Internet explorer 7 in a web search and all will be explained along with many recommendation's to stay on mozzila.

IE7 is fine, don't go back to 6. Go here and take this Microsoft scan. It's really good and will fix a lot of stuff, you'll see.

By the way, McAfee is not so hot, I advise you dump it and get Avast, excellent and free. I've had it for YEARS, without a single bug getting in!!

Try it. http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Yes McAfee has been having alot of problems as of late. I own my own PC repair shop and it has been a problem for alot of people. Sometimes the only fix was an uninstall of McAfee. Those that had to uninstall got refunds. "PEACE"

If you want to still keep on using IE6, then do a fresh installation. You may be having problems due to corrupt files. Also make sure that there are no viruses or adware on your system.

prob best to use IE6 for another 15 years until Microsoft have fixed all the bugs.

Seriously though IE7 trawls through everything (for viruses etc) before it lets you look at the end result... v v v v v slow
