My boyfriend is blonde with blue eyes, i'm blonde with blue eyes, does that mean if we have children they can only have blonde hair and blue eyes? I have a son from a previous relationship and he is also bloonde but with brown eyes, and i'd like to think when we chose to have a baby that he'd not look disimilar to any siblings

Blue eyes in a recessive genetic trait, which means that it is actually less common, BUT with both of you having blue eyes, it increases the baby's chance of having blue eys, although if your partners parents and your parents doNOT ALL have blue eyes then your child also has a chance of not having blue eyes. it is more likely to have blue eyes, but you can't be sure

It's hard to say until your baby is out. You baby can take after other relatives or genes from your family's previous generations. I am Vietnamese, I have dark brown hair and light brown eyes, my husband is Lebanese, he's got brown to blonde( in the summer) and blue eyse, our daughter has really light sandy brown hair and blue eyes. Generations before me must of had blue eyes that is why my daughter has her blue eyes.

It depends on the rest of your families. Blue eyes and blonde hair are both created by recessive genes and if there are any darker features in youir genetic background they migh be stronger than your blond/blue genes. Just like your first son's eyes. But you never know, genetics are a funny thing. I have dark hair and eyes and olive skin and my husband is dark as well due to his Asian grandfather, yet our son is blond with brown eyes.

No having a baby is like a box of chocolates :- you never Know what your going to get!

My and my hubby have brown hair and one of our children has red hair the other two have brown he looks different to the other two but then my sister and I have different fathers and look very alike!

My sister and her hubby both have brown eyes and their eldest has blue eyes.

A lot depends on what the rest of your family has got.
Certain characteristics can be handed down from generations back.

That's part of the miracle of having a child - you create a unique human being.

i disagree with the first answer..if your blond with blue eyes and so is your husband/bf, you will NEVER EVER have red haired kids with green eyes. your child will most likely will have blond hair and blue eyes, that's about 80% chance. The other 20% is that he will have either blue eyes and brown haired or brown eyes and blue hair. you get the point. you will never have red haired kids though.....Sigh some of the people on here..

good luck sis

Normally the baby would take after the parents but sometimes it can go back further to grandparents and great grandparents so if either of your grandparents have dark features so could your baby. I have 4 sons and one has blond hair (from my side) and his brothers all have dark hair(from my husband) but they are all the image of each other so dont worry.

Your son probably got the brown eye gene from his father. Brown is predominant over blue, so both you and your boyfriend have no brown genes else you would be brown eyed. Your children will get half their genes from you and half from your boyfriend. both of you will give them blue eyed genes so they will have blue eyes. I remember this from biology at school, I hope I remeber it right.

your baby is 99% guaranteed to have blue eyes as 2 blue eyed parents can really only produce a blue eyed child there are exception cases though.

it is more likely that your child will be blonde with blue eyes, but the grandparents can influence the features of their grandchildren. any child you have will have your features as well as the fathers and will look similar to you,if any sibblings have your features then yes they will look similar. i think if you had another child you would not be asking this question as good parents except their children for who they are and not what they look like.
