HA HA whatever he says, we know that the indian cricket team will remain true to us
India have everything and more
The team of 2007 is very steady.
Factors helping India -
The best indian team going for the World Cup after the 1983 Presidential Cup. India has found good openers in Ganguly and Uthappa, with Sehwag in there too. Yuvraj, Dravid, Dhoni and Tendulkar steady the middle order to form one of the best middle order batting. Lower middle order of Kumble, Harbhajan, Zaheer can hit a few runs too.
As on bowling - Zaheer and Sreesanth/Munaf Patel will be opening and are not as bad. Kumble, Harbhajan and Sachin - Sehwag can bowl many spin overs between them. That leaves one guy extra. He can be employed as a strike bowler - Irfan/Sreesanth or Dinesh Kaarthick as the 11th guy. Irfan can bat as well.
It is a very powerful batting line-up, and make take a beating on their bowling lineup.
Quality Fielders are in plenty - Yuvraj, Uthappa, Sachin, Kaarthick. Fielders like Munaf Patel will have to be hided on the field.
There are all winning chances for India. India will reach the semi-finals for sure.
India have enjoyed a great run in previous world cups as well.
In 1979 we were almost through to semis. In 1983 we won the cup. In 1987 we were in the semis. In 1996 we were in semis (because of indian crowd, match given to Sri Lankans). In 1999 we beat Pakistan (who earlier beat Australia). Then in 2003 we reached the finals.
Somethings which India need to work on to improve for the World Cup 2007 in the Caribbean -
Every Indian Player Has To Think About The Country Not Individual.
Play As A Team
Making of Master Game plan before every match
Play Mind games With Every Team
Good Net Practice Before Every Match
Relaxation Techniques
Good Fielding
Players Should Be Absolutely Fit Before Every Match

Yeah! He's dead right!
Thats what i feel. If you see the Indian lineup.
In the top order we have Sachin, Dravid, Ganuguly (ALL in 10,000 Odi runs club)
Then followed by three match winners (Sehwag, Dhoni and Yuvraj) who have the ability to take the game away on their own.
Who can forgot the new indian sensation Uthappa, who could be the surprise package of the world cup
In the bowling lineup we have such talents, which makes choosing the bowlers for a particular game harder for the Coach Greg Chappell.
We have, Pathan, M patel, sreesanth, Z khan and Agarkar + two spinners with Harbhajan and Kumble).
So you see, in the playing 11, each and every player is good( even the 12th man would be good) who can win matches for you.

Well Mr. Ranatunga, thanks for the complements. But this team cannot make it more than Semis. There are some players (I don't like to take their names here) who got selected because they gave some nice money to the selectors & the Chairman. These players even do not fit in the Canadian team. But Uncluckly they are in the Indian team. 75% chances are of SouthAfrica & 25% WestIndies.
If Srilanka can improve their bowling & fielding then it will really make difference to this team & can win the WC. Anyway Best of LUCK to All the Teams.

He is pretty right..
but here is something interesting so read it..
west indies won two world cups in a row..india stopped them in the finals in 1983 bringing an end to their dominance.
Sri lanka won all their ODI matches in 1996 from january to june including world cup ... india stopped them, beating after defending a low score of 192..bringing an end to their run.
Australia won 17 test matches in a row, india brought them to a halt in the 18th match in 2001.
South africa won 20 onedayers in a row, but then they played india, bad luck for them, we brought them to reality in the 21st match.
Now, Australia have won two world cups in a row..any guesses whats gonna happen in this world cup????
Come On India.
good luck and best wishes.

I dont think the former Srilankan Captain would have said this, had he been playing for Srilanka now.. His dislike for Australia is well known.
