There is no need to wash your hamster, they groom themselves. As far as the getting the tail wet before six months, like the above poster said, thats ridiculous. Hamsters can get a disease called Wet Tail, but its a bacterial illness that causes very watery diarrhea, it can be fatal if not treated promptly but its not caused by getting wet.

the answer is definatly not, no matter what the so called "vet" has written in as an answer. They are perfectly capable of cleaning and grooming themselves and if you watch your hammie you will see him/her do this all the time, they are extemely clean animals. The only outcome of trying to wash a hamster would be one very traumatised hammie and the possibility of "wet tail" which could end up killing the poor thing!

while i bought my hamster (a syrian) she replaced into 3 months old. they are generally around that age in puppy shops, yet someplace else they could properly be youthful or older. coaching them isn't in all hazard that stressful. as long as they are dealt with oftentimes, and dealt with properly then they are going to be tame and undemanding to handle with self assurance. My hamster has on no account bitten absolutely everyone, which i'm fortunate for, i chosen the the appropriate option one! i would be unable to rather think of of any negatives approximately possessing a hamster, different than you may desire to be careful as they could get away genuinely from their balls and you may desire to be arranged to bathe them out a week. I could desire to cello tape my hamster in her ball! there are a great sort of positives approximately having a hamster. you have the accountability to look after it, which i discover worthwhile. they are relaxing to play with and that they do some humorous issues! i admire having my hamster, Pippin. i in my view take excitement in the accountability of her being mine to look after. the only element i'm going to assert is that in case you have become a pair, decide for the dwarfs, as syrian hamsters do in contrast to being in pairs and could combat and injury one yet another, which you do no longer decide for. desire i helped :) good success on getting the hamster :)

I don't think you HAVE to wash your hamster, unless you drop it in the chocolate cake, then you may have to...
