To me, Savant's, such as Daniel Tammet who memorized pi to 22,514 characters in a matter of a couple of weeks and recited it in 5 hours to a panel of 5 people (number by number without messing up) as well as learning the Icelandic language (the hardest language to learn in adulthood) in one week just goes to show the power of the human mind (and its unlimited capabilities) and is metaphyically better explained by something that has infinite power, God. But lets stick to the subject of evolution; how can this be explained using this theory? Thanks!

Evolution is about the cumulative selection of small changes in individuals which are preferred within the gene pool of a species population.

SAVANTS have an unusual ability to memorise new things. Assuming that this is an advantage over the normal population this is quite a small change compared to a species having the cognative ability to have a clue what pi is in the first place.

Should being able to remember pi to 22,514 decimal places confer a benefit to the individual in terms of the likely hood of passing this ability to ones off spring and that this ability is likely to make their offspring more likely to survive then there is a likely hood that this trait will become more prevelant in successive generations.

Although SAVANTS are currently very rare it may well be that this becomes the norm in 20 or so generations.

There are always some people about who through some odd combination of genes and environment have extraordinary talents. While Mr. Tammet's abilities are rare and perhaps valuable, there are probably tens of thousands, perhaps millions of others who have some other odd talent developed to some unusual degree. This has next to nothing to do with evolution except in so far as it has something to do with genetics.

SAVANTS agree that TT (pi) can be memorised upto 22515 characters to be recited to 6 people in 4 hours ,and Icelandic can be learnt in 6 days by future generations who will be more evolved.
