I make good money for my area but my boss is really unreasonable. She curses at me and tells me if I get called on my day off I need to go out get in @#$% car and be there in ten minutes not two hours like last time.Well it was my day off and I was sleeping and doing laundry.I worked till almost 4 am and she called me at 9am so it took me a little while. She also said she doesnt care if im tired .I havent got more than 4 hours sleep at a time in a week. Now she says on my day off Im to call in and ask if they need help! Also if I dont come when she calls Im fired.I work really hard everynight and to do my shift and help out once in a while is one thing but to be cursed out and basically told we own you?Sometimes on my day off I want to go somewhere with my family. Is this typical treatment of salaried employees and what should I do?

I have worked on salary for many years. It all depends on your boss whether it is worth it or not. I had one boss that treated my days off as sacred and would NOT call me. Then along comes one that made me work as long as 18 hours straight. I hit the road, no job is worth that stress and degrading treatment.

Work out how many hours you actually work and divide it into the salary...I'm betting that you will be far better off working on an hourly basis. I would never tolerate behavior like that, but that's me, you have to judge your own situations and needs for yourself.
