Actually, this is probably luckier than falling out of a boat in deep water.
You have good luck. You came from humans who evolved on a small planet over millions of years. You were conceived among billions of possible genetic permutations. You were born into an era with modern medicine. You live in a country with internet access.
You've already won the genetic lottery, just by being alive.
So your boat story seems like a pretty crummy example of bad luck. :-)
