Well....
It is a RATING SYSTEM, but you can't really compare a Sempron and a Athlon 64 system if the RATING is 1800 on BOTH TYPES of Micros......
You can compare a Sempron 1800 against a Sempron 2200 and the Sempron 2200 will be faster.....
But an Athlon 64 1800 will be faster than a Sempron 2200.....
WHY? Because the ATHLON 64 is a 64 Bit processor and the Sempron is a 32 bit processor.....
The 1800 and the 2200 numbers are kinda arbitrary as they take into account the and the and
Within the same FAMILY (Sempron / Athlon / Athlon 64)
So a Sempron 1800 IS SLOWER than a Sempron 2600.....
An ATHLON 64 1800 IS SLOWER than a ATHLON 64 2600.....
NOW, the Athlon Family came out Before Sempron....
Then, ATHLON 64 came out more recently.....
Then ATHLON 64 Duo-Core is the NEWEST......and has the highest ATHLON 64 Rating !!
So the number rating is GOOD for the TYPE of Family you're purchasing into......But the ATHLON HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE HIGH POWERED MICRO/BUS/CACHE system.....
=======
I've always purchased the Athlon Family....
Look at this info, it'll help
