Whenever I see animals being tortured or hurt, like seeing a limping cat/dog, a bird with a damaged wing, i feel so bad for it. Even when i watch fictional movies with scenes having bad things done to animals, i am extremely disturbed.
But when i read the stories of the hundreds of people starving in africa and people dying across the world, i dont feel that sad. I do feel sad, but i quickly get over with it. The thoughts of animals pained and yelping stay in my ears for days.
I can watch violent movies with people dying with blood all over the screen, but not animals. Why do I feel this way? I feel so wrong. Shouldn't i have feelings for humans more?

Wow, we have the same exact thing!
I can't watch a movie with things about animals being hurt, and when I see things like humans getting shot in a movie I tend to laugh but when I see an animal get hurt I feel horrible.
I hate to admit it though.
I think it might have something to do with being raised in a society that now takes murder, human pain easily than it would have a century ago.
You hear about murder on the news everyday but you rarely hear anything about animals being harmed.
So I do believe it has something to do with that.
We're immune and used to human suffering because it's so publicized.

An animal is not as capable of helping it self, but a human should be more capable, I myself wish that there was a magic wand I could wave and get rid of the suffering people go through, but since there is not I move on cause the problem is too big for 1 person to tackle and your brain knows this.

You might want to consider a future career Working with Animals. You'd probably be excellent - at least, you would be extremely motivated to help & do a good job!!!!
There are no such things as wrong emotions. Some people are meant to help other people; some people are meant to help Animals.
I think Sade May's answer is good.

There are no wrong emotions. You must really love animals. It's normal to do that. It wouldn't be wrong to not feel sad for starving childern in Africa, it might be considered not such a nice thing but it isn't wrong. Emotions are all different.

most interesting. you don't have wrong emotions. they simply exist. however, your thoughts about animals and humans is not unusual. some people detach themselves from the misery of human suffering because they feel powerless to change anything, or they tend to think that somehow that humans are responsible for the misfortunes that befall them. animals are even more helpless than humans and to harm them seems very sad. the truth, however, is that as humans, we should raise our awareness of human suffering to the highest level of concern, especially among the innocent

Because humans sin and animals do not sin. it is an animal's nature to kill, tear flesh apart and eat it raw, for them it is normal survival.
We, on the other hand, are made in the image of God, we are supposed to act civilized and have morals.
Humans are rebellious to God, and this rebellion brings down havoc on our own heads. You are tired of all the trouble humans [not animals] cause in this world and that is reasonable.
