It happens, it really ticks you off but it happens. I've been stiffed after giving great service. You never know what to expect. It's part of being a server. The least the Restaurants could do is pay you a little more than $2.13 an hour!! Some days you bank, some days you broke!

I have spent the past few months working part time as a banquet server at a local hotel. While we do not expect tips, we do sometimes get them. We also make $12 an hour. And yes, some people I have served suck really bad.

The Chef can be a real f#ck himself. I returned a steak to him and when I suggested using the garnish from the original plate, he threw the garnish in the floor and made me take it out with no garnish. He also likes to give the servers hot plates.

I try to tip at least 20%. It is rare that I feel the need to stiff a server.

Im a server, and yes, it absolutely sucks sometimes. Old people, no offense, seem to be the worst at tipping. One time I had a couple whose change was 26 cents on a 35.00 bill. They kept the quarter and left me a penny. I was PISSED. Some people don't seem to realize how little we servers actually make an hour. Down here in Florida it is only 3.37/hr for servers.

People don't understand that tips are the only way we make money. They don't know that we only get paid 2 - 3 bucks an hour. So they think 10% is plenty to tip. I'd like to see them wait on just ONE table. See how well they put up with all the bs that goes on.
The worst is when they say "keep the change" like its something big and its only like 80 cents.

here in Australia our wages are heaps better than that of the US so we don't have tipping most waiters/waitress's here get around $16 an hour depending where you work and it depends on how a waiter treats me from the start to how i treat them

Yeah, cheap people suck!!
They should all shop for, prep, cook, and clean-up after every meal for the rest of their lives !!
Last night I averaged $30.50/hr, and today I averaged about $43.00 /hr, so it all balances out by the end of the week.
I love my job!!
