Ah, algebra on a Sunday morning: don't you just love it.

1. Get rid of x from one side.
6x - 7 = 2x + 13 (-2x)
4x - 7 = 13

2. Add 7 to both sides
4x = 20

3. Divide both sides by 4 to give you your answer.
x = 5

And that's all there is to it.

8X - 7 = 2X + 13

if this is the right problem I an thinking of then

bring the 8X over the = and the 7 to the 13
then subtract ignore the X
once you have your answers then divide there you go
unless you have a x.xxxxxxxxxxx type number
then you have do something with your calculator
which I can't help you with because they all are different.
its been a long time so if I'm wrong just rate me down.

6x - 7 = 2x + 13

6x - 7 = 2x + 13

6x - 2x = 13 + 7

4x = 20

x= 5

I see a dot(.) if it is a decimal then

1.4x = -20

x = -20/1.4

= -10/0.7

and then find its value
