Israel has complete freedom of religion, and its relevant ministry was called the Ministry of Religions.
There is no mechanism for performing interreligious marriages, but such marriages performed abroad are recognized as valid.

the system of marriage in Israel is screwed up.
the only type of marriage ceremonies that are done are religious ones. Mainly according to either Judaism, Christianity or Islam.
as such since Judaism dose not recognize the marriage between a Jew and a non Jew such a ceremony cannot be preformed.
A person can convert to Christianity or Islam, but then they would not be Jews now would they?
but if one was to have a civil marriage outside Israel it would be recognised.

Israel does not have a Civil Marriage system, you can only be married in a halakha if you're living in Israel.
Most non-Jewish or Jews who do not practice leave Israel to get married. These marriages are recognized as valid ones in Israel.

It doesn't "ban" them, in the way that Druze absolutely forbid any Druze from marrying outside of their sect.
You can have any ceremony you like, but it's not official unless you are married by the rabinute. This is too bad, because it also means that divorce is handled by the rabbis and that can be ugly. A reform rabbi will marry people that other rabbis will not: such as a cohen (descendent of the priests) to a convert or divorced person. But between people of different religions, they usually go to Cyprus, get married, have a nice honeymoon, and come back, and are recognized as married.

Israel bans marriages like that due to religion and political reasons. Even if it doesn't make any sense to you, their goverment is religious and political in that way.

Democracy refers to a technique of authorities the position maximum people guidelines. If maximum people has wanting to outlaw inter-religious marriages, then what's the priority. religious freedom has no longer something to do with a democracy except its the desire of maximum people.
