people were born believing in God, or if it was a choice? I realize that not all of the people who come on here and gay bash are Christian, but a good majority of them are. Do you think they would enjoy being forced to defend who they are over and over?

I don't think Christians are bad at all. I think there are quite a few who pick and chose what they will follow which I find to be a little irritating, but I don't think they are bad as a whole. There does seem to be a propensity to try to force others to live by your own personal beliefs, which is also something I am not hugely fond of. If people don't like that I'm gay that is fine with me, I do want to be treated with respect and kindness like I treat everyone though.

As far as the comment that belief is a choice that is true. The point I'm trying to make is many Christians will say they just know there is a God and always have known. That is very similar to other things people have always known but aren't given the courtesy of being respected about. If you say you believe in God and have always known he exists, I will respect that and believe you. I would appreciate the same respect in return when I say I have always known I'm gay, there was no choice involved.

I have always known there was a God and I have always believed. I did not know Jesus until quite later, however.

I used to think that homosexuals had a choice to do that or not. But due to the influence and patience of my best friend who is gay, I now know that 99.9% of gay people are born that way.

My apologies for my ignorance.

Well first I think bashing anyone is just wrong, Iv been the bashie enough times(due to my heritage and spiritual beliefs) to know what it feels like ....you might want to note that the religion / spiritually section is not all christian....if your question was aimed at christians specifically....Id have to say that most of them would probably not react well, and would probably respond with bashing....which is a shame.....I think your question is a good one tho...why not ask it without the anger and see what happens?...I think people are not born believing in anything ...they learn as life teaches them from parents and sometimes as they become older & begin to think on their own they change how they view the world and their beliefs as well.
Blessed Be!

It's the internet, nobody is forced to do anything here. If you're unhappy with a question you're being asked, you can log off. Instead of complaining, trying using the questions posed by these Christians (or whoever else ;-) as a way to open discussion. Try sharing with them your story, and why you feel the way you do regarding your homosexuality.

It's a choice to believe, so that's a particularly bad example. And if you think Christians are bad, you should check out the Muslims. Most of the people I know who object to homosexuality aren't strongly religious anyway.

i'm not gay or a christian, but it would be extremely annoying having to answer that question of choice over and over again. sadly, most ppl in this country aren't for gays,. I will support gays til the day that i die. what does it matter what sex a person chooses to love or lust for. i don't care what a book, the bible says about gays, since it was written by man.

The crazies who think being gay is a choice also think believing in jesus is a choice, they just think that doing the jesus thing is a good choice....
They are rather rude about the issues of homosexuality, aren't they?

there are some good Christians out there, but the others that have major issues make the rest of the group look bad.

Amen, brother.

Please don't judge all Christians by their words or their actions. Believe it or not, they're in the minority.

Who knows? Maybe their God told them to hate homosexuals. My God is better than that.

And by the way, thanks for stating it so reasonably. Peace.
