I honestly couldn't pick one to save my life. Right now I'm watching "the good, the bad, and the ugly" and the score just fits the movie like a glove.

hahahaha! I don't believe. Just had the same conversation with my brother this movie...and I just finished watching it a few hours ago...
When I saw your question...the only movie on my mind...was the soundtrack to the 'GB and the U'...
Do I agree? Absa-fraggin'lutely!!!
Watch the part where Tuco ends up in the graveyard...watch how the gold fever comes into his eyes...watch his hands...and listen to how the music accompanies the mood of his fever...it is a brilliant piece of composing...
This part of the score rolls right into the inevitable confrontation
between the three men...and there is a moment where the camera pans across 'Blondie' ..... and concentrates on his holster...and you hear this piano riff...Wow!!! perfection....Ennio Morricone's score is flawless.
Eli Wallach steals the show as Tuco Rodriguez and I think he gets some of the very best of the musical score...of the 'GB and the U'.
Some coincidence... Synchronicity I believe they call it.
Oh yes...I just turned 48 in January...
Hope this helps...

PS. I downloaded the score to the movie this morning.... Couldn't help it. Peace.

PPS...when you get a hold of the soundtrack...be prepared to be elevated into seventh heaven...the individual tracks are simply unbelievable. just try out the cut called...The Trio(main title)...
no words...no words...

I'm 21. As far as movies with custom-written scores go, I thought both 'The Truman Show' and 'American Beauty' were excellent [though given some time I'll probably come up with others]. For more modern [for lack of a better term] sountracks where the background music is composed of not-just-intrumental songs, both 'Spun' and 'The United States of Leland' [which was my introduction to Jeremy Enigk's solo music] were phenomenal [though unfortunately I'm fairly certain neither had commercially released soundtracks]. Technically, both 'American Beauty' and 'Leland' kind of fall into both categories; the former also had quite the selection of pre-existing songs and Jeremy Enigk was contacted to write songs specifically for the soundtrack of the latter. I suppose the answers to this kind of question will often be a matter of taste. However, it is nice to know I'm not the only one who pays attention to the background music.
