I can't concentrate on too much of anything. When I read books and articles or work on homework I can't really focus. When I sit in class my attention span is too short.... Any tips or advice will be greatly appreciated! thanks..

Make sure you're sitting in a room free from any major distractions while studying at home, like a television or a computer. Or put yourself in a lonely spot, where there's nothing else to do but study. Look at the videos on 'studying skills' and 'test-taking' skills in the English section of www.brainpop.com. You need an account, but it's really helpful.

In the class room... I'm not too sure. Maybe it's your diet that's the trouble. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and cut down on oily food. Try taking notes of every single thing the teacher says, you might find yourself following the topic. Find someone who does pay attention and read up their notes. If possible sit close to them, so that every time your attention wavers, you glance at them and remember you need to pay attention.

Sounds like ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). See a psychiatrist to get it check out. This does not mean you're stupid. ADD/ADHD people are extremely intelligent people (Einstein) who just have a hard time concentrating. When the proper medication is given it will improve your concentration and your self-esteem will improve too. If you do end up having it then check out CHADD.org/com(?) for support. Also read Teenagers with ADD and ADHD-A Guide for Parents and Professionals by Chris a Dendy, M.S. Great book!!!

Good luck!

I myself find that the reason I get like that is cause my mind is always working, all my senses are on high, do you sleep more than 6 1/2 hours? if so that may be one problem, I have found that too much sleep makes me go 100mph in my head but if I sleep 6 1/2 I can or am at a good speed(my thoughts don't race) also don't drink or eat products that are high in sugar and lastly put some Enya on or classical music and try knitting or boondoggling, www.boondoggleman.com, boondoggle is much like knitting the act of tying knots is like meditating and your mind will be more focused because of the hobby.

Do little of every thing you do for a while. focus on your eyes sometimes, your nails, your balls, your hair and so on for a while. you will start improving.
