i think of this could help. each egg has a small air pocket in it. whilst an egg is going off or is stale, this air pocket will strengthen it rather is length with the aid of gasses shaped whilst it is going stale. This motives the egg to glide good success

yes if they float to the top -throw them out. If they lay on their side and start to float you can use them in baking. If they lay flat on the bottom you can be sure they are fresh.
