Very few schizophrenics are dangerous. The problem with it is that it hinders their lives and makes it very difficult to live a healthy, together life. It sounds like this guy is being properly medicated and treated. Good for him!!! I've heard that Van Gough was schizophrenic, but I won't claim that as a fact, I don't know. It's suspected that Abe Lincoln had bipolar disorder or major depressive disorder. You have nothing to be afraid of from this man. Most violent crimes are committed by sane people. There are plenty of sites you can visit for info on mental illness.

Read Reader's Digest March 2007, Possessed by Love. This woman was in love with a talented man who ended up being schizophrenic. Her situation is different from your's but it's similar in that she dealt with a mentally ill person. Let's just say she ended up changing her name and couldn't speak to any friends in order to protect herself from being killed by this man she loved. Is your friend on med's? If not, stay far away. If so make sure he takes it every day even if he feels like he shouldn't. My childhood friend stopped taking hers and ended up flipping out. Yes, psychiatric patients are extremely intelligent but they don't have common sense. Caution is the word pal. Watch out for you and for your friend. If he starts acting weird tell his family or his doctor. You'll be doing him a big favor getting him help. He'll probably hate your guts for "tattling" on him but you are really saving his life. Good luck.

brain wiring, he may be all those things but even autistic people show signs of genius, if you don't like being around him because of his eccentric behavior then tread carefully.
