Believe it or not the child is classified under the race of the father. Therefore if the father is white the offspring is white and vice-versa.

He can call himself white. But in truth its all about society and that child will always be viewed as black, unless he or she can completely pass for white. But when someone finds out the truth that child will be considered black.

Yes. My niece looks white and on her birth certificate it says she is white though she is 3/4 white and a 1/4 black.... Not the same but it's all about how you look. Why would they want to pass them selves off as white any way? I find it irritating when mixed race people say they are black or white not mixed race. We have our own identity and should embrace both sides!

If a newborn is born in China, he can % a chinese language citizenship. He is often eligible for citizenship of his mom and dad' nationality. relies upon on regardless of he chooses. further, if he replaced into to be born on Mars, he ought to % a martian citizenship, i assume In china, his first identity will stay actual function based (ethnicity of mom and dad) ie Anglo-saxon or regardless of. So he may be a White chinese language. On Mars, his identity would be in line along with his actual helpful factors (genetic make up) i.e Homo Sapiens or regardless of. Language spoken does not actual rely lots. I believe the Broody Tlorr !!!

He would be labeled as black. Noone would call him white. That's just how our society works. But why would he want to be called white anyway? I wish I was less white than I am, and more Mexican or Native American, because there isn't any pride in being white. "Oh, I'm a white person....." "And......"
You don't get any benefits from being white.

If he looks more white than black, you can call him white. If it's vice-versa, he's black.
There's an NBA player named Mike Bibby. He's half black/white. When he shaves his hair, he looks totally white. But, when his afro grows out a little, you can totally tell he's black.
But according to the Jim Crow Laws (created by racists), if you're something like 1/12th black, you're considered black.

if he looks white he can get away with calling himself that, but technically he is black and white. i have seen kids born to a black and white couple and come out caucasian looking. someone of brown skin who calls themselves white aren't typically accepted by ppl as being so.

He can call himself whatever he wishes, but society is probably going to consider him to be black.
BTW -
I resent the fact that you are implying that society is "punishing" him by labeling him black.

I have mixed children and I taught them NOT to fall for this trap. We fill out school forms as "other" in the race column, and if asked by other kids they have been taught to respond "I am the BEST of BOTH!" just because the world has narrow minds I will NOT confine my offspring's....
