Things to consider:
1) How much can you trust someone you've never met?
2) How faithful do you expect your girlfriend to be when you live long distance?
3) Do you chat via phone or webcam? How can you verify this person is who she says she is?
4) Are you able to have a fulfilling relationship when you're unable to be there for each other physically?

They can be. I had some online relationships where people suddenly disappeared and it broke my heart.
However I met my husband online and we have been together for 7 years and all is great, so like any dating you never know someone till you live with them, but give it a go!
