Scotland is very nice. I was up in the highlands and on the islands. I didn't find the people to be narrow minded at all. The weather is cool in the summer and it does rain quite a bit;but, the air is clear, our water came straight from a mountain stream.Winters can be very very cold with quite a bit of snow.
Take a vacation before you decide to settle and raise a family-everyone's opinion will differ.

Scottish people are very friendly towards foreign people, we are apparently only racist towards English people, we are not narrow minded, but there may be the odd few, which you will find in any country. The weather unfortunately leaves alot to be desired, but we have a beautiful country, which we are very proud of.
