80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Life is like the school.
The spiritual development is the purpose. The students were grouped by their development - not by their age.

The 60 year old man may be 1st std. the 16 year old boy may be 12 std in the spiritual school.

The classes were taken commonly. Every student understand the lessons individually. Mark es given separately.

The tests were held for each student uniquely. the question paper is nothing but the problems for the persons in the common life. The test is always on the subject which the student is weak. The special class also on the special subject.

for ex amble... if a person weak in 'fear' than he may face the problems related to fear... until he remove the habit of fear.
like that sex, angry, selfishness etc.

If you remove one of your weakness than the next lesson will be start. the next weakness - next lesson.
If you are in the state of full strength with out any weakness - you are god.

THE MEANING OF LIFE IS MAKE THE HUMAN BEINGS AS GOD.

we know- to become a doctor one should study for 5 years. But we think "the meaning of life should be understood immediately." the reason is, the life is always with us. We never respect it.
respect life. Spend some time to understand it.

G.Krishnamurti Books will help you.

That we were designed & created in such detail & with such capabilities, shows that we mean a lot to our Creator! He obviously gave great thought to our needs, our happiness, & our environment. This is because he wants us to be happy. We have spiritual, as well as physical & emotional needs, which he provides for. He provides guidance & direction --purpose-- for us, in his word, the Bible. His original intention for humankind --as well as the earth itself-- is to be in total harmony with him, and to that end he is in the process of implimenting a marvelous plan to straighten out both earth's & mankind's problems, by eliminating their sources, and reinstituting the beautiful paradisaic conditions originally intended for them.

For more details regarding this, the following on-line articles discuss, & give the Scriptures, that my answer is based on:

Sometime asking for a meaning as such may render the question unanswerable.
We are the result of the evolution of a universe and a planet.
Our purpose is to animate a universe that would otherwise run it's course as a monstrous unknowing entity.
It would seem like a waste,i guess we are the purpose.

Each human life is bound by certain duties. Thus life does not offer unlimited and unbridled freedom. "Duty" is paramount.
This means that one has to perform which means " karma". How best one performs depends upon how much labour one puts in and how systematic one is. Discipline optimises this.
Duty comes with circumstances of life.Duty should be done unselfishly as far as possible. As far as possible, serve your parents first, and then you can enlarge upon this instinct and see whether you can be useful to the society and country at large. Do not cause pain to others by harsh speech and taunts. Be patriotic. Refine your talent That defines the purpose of life.

Omfg lets not be so pessimistic here people. To me the point of life is for you to find happiness in one form or another, reach spiritual oneness, complete all tasks neccessary, follow through with what is important, have fun and then when the time is right and all your work is done and your part has been played you can close your eyes and rest. To me to live is the point of life. Makes sense right?

we are again and again given chances in realizing oneself as to what exactly we are

the purpose of life is just that realization "WHAT AM I "

The journey starts from the understanding that "I am just a part of a universal system an like an atom around a neucleaus

and reaching the ultimate purpose of realizing that the whole energy the almighty is just me

I am Christian, so I am going to tell you Salvation through Jesus Christ; but, that is not what you want to hear.

Perhaps the answer to you question would be easier if there were a universally accepted and definitive explanation for what "meaning" is. As a Christian, of course, I would resort back to the phrase above;but, again that is not what you want to hear. What you want to hear is something deeply insightful and profound; moving your innermost being. Yet, skepticism, which is what you are moving yourself towards is not profound by any means.

LOVE ! my man pass on the love that endures time forever, I mean that if you can go through life being a source of inspiration to others and help improve there life, and that they will find there source of love from within. They then will hopefully continue to do same for others. " I always say life is a gift so please do not waste it " I always liked that movie where the gift was passed on.
There is no greater gift you can then that of yourself. LOVE my man
