Ok as a former college basketball player I can say that the clowns in front of me are all completely wrong. The selections will be made Sunday March 11th. The Play-In game is the following TUESDAY, and the first round begins on the Thursday of that week. march Madness runs through March and end at the very beginning of April. Hope this helps

It starts after Selection Sunday (March 11). The play-in game is monday and the tourney is the following day.

The play-in game is March 13th. The rest of the first round games are between the 15th & 18th. Can't wait.

It's debatable. One could say it starts on selection sunday when the teams are selected for the tournament.
I'm a firm believer that it starts when teams are going into their conference tournaments, because it's those games and those performances that make or break whether a team gets in or not.
