I am trying to concieve and yesturday I checked my vaginal mucus and it was a little white and it stretched a bit. Today I checked it again and it was really, really stretchy and clear. Do you ovulate on the last day of this "egg like" mucus? How long does the fertile mucus last for? And is it best to make love every night during this time? (Just cause some people say to make love every second night to let the sperm count get higher)

Every woman's body is a little different. Not all women ovulate on the last day of egg-white mucous. It varies from the day or two before, to the day or two after the last stretchy mucous day. But probably *most* women ovulate on that day, or the one day after.

Personally, if I were trying to get pregnant, and had no reason to think I might have trouble achieving that, I wouldn't take the chance of skipping that one day that might have been THE ovulation day. A guy with a normal sperm count, is still going to have enough to get the job done if you make love every day.

It depends. Some people have egg-white mucus for over a week, some a day, some not at all.

You can't confirm that you ovulated by the cervical mucus dry up. Your body can gear up to ovulate and then fail (go back to "sticky" then return to egg white for another try). That is why many women "temp" to confirm that ovulation has taken place. But yes- in the presence of a "thermal shift" (after ovulation your temperature will rise from the progesterone) a cervical fluid dry up will indicate ovulation has occurred. It generally occurs on the last day of egg white fluid or the day after.

Their are conflicting studies on the best frequency to make love (some saying best every night and others every second night or even every 3rd). In the end it doesn't make much difference as it is other factors that will influence whether you get pregnant (will the fertilised egg implant into your uterus etc....). It will however make a difference if your partner has a low sperm count. Only then should you abstain until you are at your most fertile.

I would suggest seeing this e-book put out by fertility friend http://www.fertilityfriend.com/HelpCenter/ffhandbook.html and would further suggest that you may wish to start charting..

Some good on-line sites would be
http://www.fertilityfriend.com
http://www.ovusoft.com
Both offer charting software and community forums to help you in your journey.

Good luck

The Ovum is fertile after 17days from your menstrual cycle. The cycle is some what like this.

In the menses time Ovum returns back to the ovule after staying for 14 days in the uterus.

Ovule starts to develop again and produces Ovum after 14 days.

Ovum will be back in Uterus on 17th day from the Menses day (Probably)

Waits for 14 days in uterus for sperm to mate.

returns back to the uterus on Menses days.
