Huge nuggets fan here, and i was wondering, Why do you think melo and AI haven't been able to gel?
And dont say it is because they are both ball hogs, because they have refured to each other way more than anyone thought they would.

You say they mesh on offence, but they both have never reached 30 in the same game, and they score less with AI

Everyone mentions the Nuggets' weak defense, but remember, Denver plays a very uptempo game....so don't let the stats fool you. It LOOKS like their defense is the problem because they give up 100+ points per game, but that's what happens when you play an uptempo style. Denver holds their opponents to 46% shooting, almost the NBA average. They are Top 10 in defensive rebounding and #2 in steals. Their defense is not their biggest problem.
As for AI and Carmelo playing together.....I don't think they've been able to do that because their styles of play are so similar. Both are high scorers, but both players get a lot of their points by creating their own shots....A LOT of dribbling and one-on-one offense. Maybe that's a nicer way of saying that "they are both ball hogs", but it is what it is.
How will 2 players who primarily create their own shots ever be able to "gel"? I think a lot of teams realize that all they have to do is let one score while containing the other, and you win the game...That's why you won't see both having monster games at the same time. As good as Iverson is, his FG% and outside shooting are average at best. Until AI starts playing like a true point guard, I don't see Denver ever making the push for a championship run that some people envisioned because their games do not complement each other.

Its extremely difficult to even think that two players no matter how good they are keep playing better on the same team
Rare cases have occured like MJ and Pippen, Kobe and Shaq and Tim Duncan
But keep in mind that if next season AI and Melo manage to play in a high level they can beet anyone

Because Melo doesnt play defence, and AI only gets steals, with no other defensive contribution. Its hard to win games with 2 or 3 people playing defence unless you are the suns (but they have a faster offence than the nuggets and amare, marion, and diaw defensively)

because there is a different chemistry .. AI is a different player than melo and AI is a little bit more of a ball hog than him . they just wont mix well

AI is not a ball hog..... look at his assist/game, he's averaging about an eight assists per game..... he's so explosive and the hardest guard to guard.... Mellow is also good.... AI + Mellow = damm good

They're both great offensive players, but Denver's weak defense is what keeps costing them the most.

Offensively they are meshing fine. It's Denver's defense, or should I say their complete LACK of defense, that's hurting them.
