The reason for the conflict between Israel and the Arabs is that the Arabs, plain and simple, refuse to accept a Jewish state in their midst. They invented this whole idea of a "Palestinian people who deserve a state" just to use as a tool to dismember Israel.
Arab violence against Jews has been going on long before there was an occupation, long before there was a refugee problem--indeed, long before there was a political Zionist movement.
In 2005 the Israelis left Gaza totally. Five years earlier, they left Lebanon totally.
But it is convenient for the Arabs to ignore this, so they can continue to play the role of underdog.

As simple as Palestine was known as Syria-Palestine in the old days, and included modern days Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and Palestine.
Palestine is not something new, like some Israeli might say, and the whole region was and still is against the state of Israel.
Syria occupied Lebanon for a long time, in a move that a large chunk of the Lebanese population was in favor, due to the cultural similarities.
During this occupation Israel decided to attack Lebanon a move that no one in the region liked and was condemned by the international community. However, this attack resulted in an occupation that ended recently, or should end as Israel is still occupying a tiny area in Lebanon.
Basically, the issue in Lebanon is the same with the most anti Israel party of Palestine (Hamas) as they are bound by the same culture.
I am not talking about the big christian community in Lebanon or else I would have to write an essay on the area. just the Palestinians in Lebanon and Syria

Abraham had a bastard son by his wife's maid, Ishmael. Then Sarah had a legitimate son, Isaac.
Isaac got the birthright, the inheritance because he was technically the first born.
Ishmael and his descendants, the Arabs, have been jealous ever since. There has never been a country called Palestine or a people called Palestinians. We call the Northeast of this country New England, a reference to a certain area in the country.
Rome, when they ruled Israel, called the area Palestine. It was a reference to an area of the Roman empire not to a certain country.
That's it in a nutshell, there is a lot more to the story but too much to write here

The Palestinians are a "nationless" group of Muslims that live in various areas of Lebanon, and Syria. Two areas they live are the West bank of the Jordan river which overlooks Israel, and the Gaza Strip, which overlooks the Med Ocean.
During a war called the Six-Day War, Israel occupied these areas, and has set up permanent Israeli housing settlements there to improve their own security. Arabs used those lands to launch rocket attacks into Israel, so after the war, Israel, never gave them back. They moved their own settlers into those areas, so the Arabs had less of a chance to launch attacks into Israel from them.
The Palestinians claimed those lands as their own, but they got pushed off by the Israeli military. Lebanon sides with the Palestinians but has done nothing for them, along the lines of giving them any land or aid, or money. Lebanon says they are against the radical forces that attack Israel from those ares but takes no action to stop them.
As Israel is surrounded on all sides by enemies sworn to its destruction, they have had to take measures into their own hands to protect their own peace and security.

There are good answers in here. But, filter through some of the religiose parts. One person called Palestinians landless Muslims. There are hundreds of thousands of Christian Palestinians without a nation scattered through out the world. Primarily in Syria, Jordan, the United States, Lebanon, Iraq and Latin America.

Israel's gripe against Lebanon is that the Lebanese government has allowed Hezbollah to take over the country. Hezbollah is violently opposed to Israel's validity as a country. Israel would not be upset with Lebanon if the Lebanese would only take back their country from Hezbollah and run it it themselves. It is Hezbollah subsidized by Syria and Iran that is causing the major problems with Israel.....all calculated by Iran.

It's all about political influence--the Israeli lobbyist's, the right-wings biblical prophecy beliefs as they relate to Israel, Bush' failed foreign policy which allowed Hezbollah to be voted into office, and our blind ignorance in allowing it to occur.
